About Me
Registered Clinical Counsellor in Vancouver & Port Moody
Welcome! My name is Amanda. I help adults, youth, and couples move through the tough stuff. I offer a grounded approach to therapy that blends emotional depth with practical tools. We create a space together where we make sense of what hurts, and understand the patterns that have shaped how you cope, connect, and move through the world, and create meaningful change.
In session together, you can expect a warm, down-to-earth space where we move at your pace and build skills that actually fit your life. I take a direct but supportive approach, offering insight and honesty, reflection, and clarity. I encourage curiosity and I value conversations where vulnerability, resilience, and self-understanding can exist together. I strive to create a therapy space that is inclusive, culturally informed, and welcoming to all.
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BCACC. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology & Neuroscience, graduate-level certification in Clinical Addictions Studies, and a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology.

How I Work
I believe the ways we have learned to manage, whether through anxiety, shutting down, perfectionism, conflict, or self-protection, often make sense in the context of what we’ve lived through. In therapy, we work to understand those patterns with curiosity rather than judgment.
Together, we invite curiosity and reflection to make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface: the emotions, experiences, and protective strategies that may be keeping you stuck. From there, we begin creating space for change, not by forcing it, but by understanding it.
I believe growth often asks us to move toward discomfort, not to overwhelm ourselves, but to better understand what it might be pointing to.
Sessions can involve making connections between past and present, processing difficult emotions, navigating relationship dynamics, or building practical strategies to help you feel more grounded day to day. Our work is interactive and tailored to what feels most important and manageable for you.
What Change Can Look Like
As therapy unfolds, change might look like feeling less stuck in anxiety, softening self-criticism, setting healthier boundaries, navigating relationships with more clarity, or responding to difficult emotions with greater steadiness and self-compassion. It may mean grieving what has been lost, rebuilding trust after pain, reconnecting with parts of yourself you’ve had to disconnect from, or learning to live more fully in alignment with your values.
Healing doesn’t always mean the absence of struggle. Often, it means building the capacity to move through life’s challenges with greater awareness, resilience, and self-trust.
Who I Work Best With
I work best with those who want to better understand themselves, their relationships, and the patterns that keep showing up in both.
Many of the clients I work with are high-functioning on the outside but carrying a lot internally. Some are new to therapy, and others are returning because they’re ready for a deeper kind of work.
Therapy doesn’t require certainty, only enough curiosity to begin exploring what feels heavy.
Who I Am Outside
of the
Therapy Room
From the Northwest Territories to Alberta and Ontario, my journey eventually brought me to British Columbia, which I have called home since 2017. Alongside my clinical training, my lived experiences have shaped how I understand resilience, relationships, and the complexity of being human.
When I’m not in the therapy room, you’ll likely find me finishing a whodunnit novel in an afternoon, dialing-in the perfect espresso shot (or my golf swing), extending my Duolingo streak, exploring the outdoors, or cheering on my favourite sports teams with family & friends.
Inclusivity, cultural humility, and thoughtful self-reflection guide how I move through the world, not only at work but in my everyday life. I am committed to ongoing learning about my social positions, the impacts of colonial histories, and systemic inequities. I aim to create spaces where everyone feels seen, respected, and safe to show up as they are.
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
